□ Series: Scott Pilgrim
□ Canon point: The end of Scott Pilgrim and the Infinite Sadness (Volume 3)
□ History:
http://scottpilgrim.wikia.com/wiki/Ramona_Flowers
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scott_pilgrim

Ramona’s history is fairly hard to pin down, she doesn’t share much. She grew up somewhere ‘in the mountains’ but lived in England at some point after that before eventually moving to New York. In College she was taught to be a ninja by her girlfriend, and how to travel on the ‘subspace highways’ that move through people’s heads.

In New York, she found a job as a delivery girl and became obsessed with Gideon Graves, a night club mogel and record producer. But he treated her more like an object than anything else, and over time she realized how unhealthy it was and fled to Toronto, Canada to get away from him. (But even that was, essentially, his suggestion because he had told her Toronto was one of the ‘Great Cities’.)

She lived in Torono doing deliveries until she accidentally made Scott Pilgrim obsessed with her by using his head as a delivery route. They met when he had a package delivered to him (she handled all the amazon.ca deliveries in Toronto) and he asked her out, which was a fun night.

They started dating, but her cabal of evil Ex’s appeared to attack Scott, and he beat two of them fairly easily before recently facing the third, who was a band member in Scott’s ex-girlfriend’s band, the Clash at Demonhead. Scott beats him, they go home, and the volume ends.

□ Personality:

At first glance, Ramona is a fairly typical young woman in her mid-twenties. She has a normal job (she’s a delivery girl for amazon.ca), she likes to go to clubs and listen to music and watch movies. She enjoys an occasional drink, smokes on special occasions (when she’s drinking or particularly stressed) and gossips about stupid things. She’s friendly to most people she meets (unless they’re idiots), and she has an off-beat, slightly dark sense of humor.

But beyond all of that she’s a very strange girl. She was trained to be a ninja by her girlfriend in college, which she took to remarkably well, and because of it, she treats impromptu fights on the street as if they’re…if not ‘normal’, not entirely unexpected either. And she can adapt to them pretty well, too, grabbing whatever is nearby for the sake of whatever the fight is. (She ruins some modern art to fight Knives).

For a long time, she had commitment issues in relationships, leaving the moment she got ‘bored’ or something else shiny came along (She dumped her second boyfriend for her third, and cheated on her fifth and sixth boyfriends at the same time). She tends to be something of a hypocrite about this as well, as she would take getting cheated on badly, despite the fact that she cheated on other people.

She’s very good at rolling with the oddities that life throws at her, she is more likely to laugh at something nonsensical than get angry at it, or think it’s funny instead of stupid. This is probably a side effect of the time she has spent in ‘Subspace’, which is a form of travel in the Scott Pilgrim world that involves entering another dimension and moving between magical doors, or more specifically, inside people’s minds and dreams. So she’s seen all sorts of crazy things inside other people’s head.

In their world magic and superpowers are also real, as is cybernetics. And she’s seen all of it, and has learned to be pretty okay with it. Things like that just don’t surprise her anymore.
For a while she was kind of a bitch (something she admits too now), especially in dealing with other people. But she’s attempting to work on it now, and turn her life in a more ‘healthy’ direction. It’s why she moves to Toronto at the beginning of the comics. She is looking for a ‘new’ place to live her life, to find a way to settle her issues and deal with the real world. She’s turning over a new leaf, though whether it is working or not is hard to say at her canon point.

Her primary relationships (for where she is pulled) are Gideon Graves and Scott Pilgrim.

Gideon is her seventh evil Ex-boyfriend, but before he was evil, Ramona was obsessed with him. They were involved, but it was a sort of manipulative, one-sided relationship where she was desperately in love and he treated her like an object. It took her a long time to realize how unhealthy this was, and even when she did, it was extremely hard for her to actually leave. When she finally did, and ran away all the way to Canada from New York, she still talks about him a lot, bringing him up with ‘things he said’ or moments she remembered. She respected him, despite everything, and while she knows it was unhealthy, he was rich and successful and she still thinks she can learn something from that.

Scott is kind of an idiot. But he’s an endearing sort of idiot, and Ramona is discovering she rather likes him, in a dorky sort of way. He’s all over the place mentally, too open and dorky to ever be as manipulative and controlling as Gideon ever was, and she needs that at the moment. She has basically agreed to date him because he pestered her into it, but she’s discovering she does like him. After he defeated her third Evil Ex Boyfriend and faced down his Ex-Girlfriend, she decided to let him move in with her (partly because his gay roommate was kicking him out). They go together very well, in a strange, off-beat sort of way.

□ Age: 24
□ Gender: Female
□ Appearance:

Ramona is a fairly typical looking 24 year old in appearance; a bit taller than average, with a curvy-without-being-fat figure, round face and large, very dark eyes. Her most defining feature is her chin length hair, which is never a natural color, and which she dyes weekly from a variety of shades (often blue and red, but green and pink are also perfectly valid choices, whatever she’s feeling at the moment) depending on her mood and circumstances.

Her clothing tends towards relaxed punk, with jeans-skirts, leggings of various designs and colors, big boots (or more often roller blades) t-shirts and tank-tops, typically hidden beneath a jacket or coat. (But that might just be a sacrifice for Canadian weather). She is often wearing a choker, wears a decent amount of make-up and has a number of bracelets she usually has on.

She has a pair of large goggles she wears while working, and is almost never without her star-covered round bag.

□ Abilities/Powers:

Subspace Highways: Ramona is capable of using ‘subspace highways’ to travel great distances in only a few minutes. These are passages inside people’s heads that are accessed via random doors with stars on them. It’s difficult to say if these doors exist because Ramona/whomever is using them wants them to be there, or they already exist, the comic never specifies.

The Glow: Gideon infected Ramona with ‘the glow’ which causes a person to become locked inside their head during moments of extreme emotional stress, essentially trapped with nothing but their own worries and insecurities. When it happens, Ramona’s head starts to glow.

The glow interacts with the subspace highways in an undefined manner, allowing Ramona to actually disappear entirely one day through it. (This hasn’t happened yet.)

□ Personal Items:

Work gear: Skates and goggles.

Bottomless Star Bag - Ramona has a round shoulder bag with a Star on the side that is essentially bottomless. It works with the subspace stuff somehow (again, never explained) and lets her keep really large things inside it. At one point, Scott actually rides inside the bag, with only his hands and head sticking out. (I am not sure how this would work would it be a power or would it just be a normal bag until she got to higher levels? And what would happen to the stuff inside it?)

Hammer: Ramona has a really big hammer! It’s in the big bottomless bag. It’s an ordinary hammer, really, just large. Three foot long handle, big wooden head. A giant mallet with a star on it.

□ First Person Sample:

[The video clicks on to show a green-haired young woman frowning down at the camera, half the screen covered up by her palm. Above her, the buildings are passing slowly by overhead as she rolls along. Her goggles are pushed up into her hair, but once she realizes it’s recording she reaches up to tug them down over her eyes, then gives the screen a little smile and mocking salute before she turns the video feed off.]

[A moment later it continues, audio only.]

So Hey. I’m Ramona. Can’t say I’m happy to meet all of you since, I’m not, but I guess there are worse things to wake up to.

Not weirder. This officially tops my weird list. But worse, sure.

Except the chip thing. That sucks.

[She hesitates for a moment.]

So I’m trying to find this apartment they’ve given me, then some kind of job? Shouldn’t have too much trouble getting a better one of those. Anybody need a delivery girl? You can’t find better than me at that.

Once I learn the city anyway.

[Another pause with just the sound of the city in the background.]

So where do people go for fun around here? It’s gotta be less boring than Toronto.

Note: I am taking her from the comics, but I am going to most likely use movie icons since they’re easier to get and don’t have to be colored.
